Itto Sushi has been our go-to date night spot since way before we got engaged—but it became extra special when we celebrated our engagement there! We always share the Alaskan Roll, Dandelion Roll, and the Itto Roll. The Firebird is another favorite—it’s not spicy, but it does come to the table on fire (10/10 for the drama). If you're in the mood for sushi while you're in town, this is the place!
One of our favorite quick getaways! Timpanogos Falls is an easy, beautiful hike—only about 2 miles roundtrip and super accessible. It’s our go-to when we’re short on time but still want some fresh air and stunning views. Perfect for a peaceful stroll, a light adventure, or a chance to stretch your legs while soaking in some Utah beauty.
We went here for Aiden’s birthday last year and totally fell in love with it! The Butterfly Biosphere is a stunning indoor botanical garden filled with butterflies from all over the world—some will even land on you if you're lucky (and still enough)! It's magical for both kids and adults.
Tickets can be a bit pricey at the door, but they're cheaper if you grab them online. And if you’re up for a full day of exploring, you can upgrade to an all-access pass to Thanksgiving Point! That includes a ton of fun spots like:
- Mountain America Museum of Ancient Life (aka the dinosaur museum)
-Mountain America Jurassic Jungle
-Curiosity Farms
-Museum of Natural Curiosity (one of our other favorites)!
-A classic carousel, too!
Whether you’re a nature lover, science nerd, or just looking for a good time and awesome pictures, it’s totally worth the visit!
If you're looking for a cozy, flavorful spot to grab a bite near the Butterfly Biosphere, we can't recommend JINYA Ramen Bar enough. It’s our go-to place for special nights out and celebrating little milestones. It's delicious, comforting, and always hits the spot.
Aiden swears by the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen—but here's the insider trick: he swaps the tofu for mushrooms (trust us, it's a game-changer) and skips the green onions. I am all about the Tonkotsu Black and Red, and always go for thick noodles. The best thing about JINYA is, you simply cannot go wrong! So whether you're a ramen connoisseur or just want a special memorable meal, JINYA has something for everyone.
You didn’t think all of Marisa’s random shark facts were just for fun, did you? We had to put them to good use—so naturally, we went to the aquarium on one of our first dates.
It ended up being one of our favorite spots! From glowing jellyfish to the walk-through aquariums, there’s so much to explore. And don’t even get us started on the penguins—they totally stole the show (and our hearts).
If you’re looking for something fun to do while you’re here, this place is full of wonder and whimsy! Great for families, couples, or solo exploring. Just be warned—you might leave with a sudden passion for marine biology....and penguins.
For our out of state friends, we want to wish you a big welcome to Utah! The land of mountains, fry sauce, and... soda shops on every corner. We know you may be a little curious (or just confused), but trust us, trying a dirty soda is basically a rite of passage here.
Sodalicious is one of our go-to pick-me-ups. Marisa’s favorite is The Alison Show (Diet Coke with fresh lime and cranberry—chef’s kiss). Aiden’s favorite is... about 40% sips from Marisa’s.
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, bubbly, and totally Utah, this is your spot!
Have we mentioned we love picnics? Rock canyon park is one of our favorite picnic spots. We pick up snacks from Trader Joe’s and head here. It’s got a big grassy area perfect for laying out, plus plenty of trees for hammocking and lounging. We bring a good book and just relax for hours! If we’re feeling extra adventurous, there’s also an easy hiking trail that lets you choose your own adventure—whether you want a short stroll or a bit of a longer hike. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the beautiful Utah summer!
